The concept for the Grand Tradition Estate and Gardens was conceived to answer the growing need for a special event venue in the Fallbrook area. The founding families: the Storys, Martins and McDougals dreamed of a special destination that would capture the romance and opulent gardens of another era with a sense of place steeped in romance.

THE PERCY DAVIS RANCH was originally a 35-acre estate that was purchased to create this special destination. The original Davis home was taken down to design a new structure that would serve the exact needs to host weddings and special events.

The founders were tireless in their research to ensure the authenticity of their design for the Beverly Mansion. The Platt House in Los Angeles; was a design inspiration with many of the artistic details drawn from a Victorian aesthetic and were lovingly handmade on-site to replicate the timeless craftsmanship of the day. This includes original gazebo heart-shaped panels and shingled siding still visible today.

Construction began on the Beverly Mansion in 1983. The original structure featured a modern industrial kitchen with Bride and Groom dressing rooms that contained all the essential square footage and accoutrements for large wedding parties.

It took one year to design and complete the building with many countless hours by the founder and volunteers.

To celebrate the opening in a big way, the Grand Tradition hosted a Grand Opening with all family, founders and friends dressing up for the big day.

Grand Tradition held its first wedding and reception in May 1984. Since that day, the property has had the honor of playing host to over 10,000 weddings with over one million guests and visitors to the estate and its spectacular gardens. Bev and Mac assumed full ownership of the Grand Tradition in 1987 and continued to manage the business until 1996 when their son; Don and wife Pat moved back to California with their sons to assume the day-to-day operations.

In 2005, The vision of Arbor Terrace began development. Encompassing over five acres, Arbor Terrace has a spectacular 35’ waterfall anchoring the tropical ceremony site, the reception space is a satin draped, open air tented pavilion with an outdoor fireplace and many hidden waterfalls throughout the grounds. A piece of tropical paradise right in the heart of Southern California.

The addition of Compass Garden and Orchid Bar were completed in early 2013, adding to the gardens with an allotment of succulents, Canary Island Palm Trees, and other various plant varieties.

The Veranda Restaurant opened in 2013. Current operating hours are Thursday to Sunday from 9 am to 1 pm, serving fresh California-style cuisine for Brunch and Lunch. With seating overlooking our heart-shaped lake, guests can enjoy a serene lunch with amazing views.

The Grand Tradition Estate and Gardens now currently resides on over 45 acres, 18 of which are manicured and landscaped. The gardens and activities will continue to expand in the years to come. Each season brings the latest plant materials to discover with exciting seasonal changes.
